What Teams Need to Know...

Welcome to the 2009 FTC Season!

On October 1, the team listserv was purged of all 2008 contacts and re-loaded with 2009. If you are not registered in TIMS, you will no longer receive the emails. All teams should also create a gmail account that includes their team number in some fashion to add to the listsev. Gmail has no problems sending/receiving large files and pics, and it does a better than average job keeping out junk mail. All email is stored online, accessible from any computer, and easily pulled into a mail client on your desktop.

New this year...

The PTC Design Award requires use of CAD drawing, and is about industrial design of your robot—how you incorporate the materials outside the Kit of Parts. All awards except Motivate and Connect require an engineering notebook.
Teams must qualify for the Regional Championship through participation in qualifying events (Q-vents) around the state.

Q-vent Registration

Registration is now open. Teams may go to multiple Q-vents as space allows. Pre-registration closes on November 1.

After this date, teams may still sign up but will be placed into Q-vents that are still open. The Q-vents are NOT reserved for Virginia teams, but priority will be given to all in-state teams until November 1. After November 1, priority will only be given to in-state teams that are not registered for any events outside of Virginia or that are not requesting more than one Q-vent within Virginia.

Teams will be sorted into the four Q-vents based on space and requests. Every attempt will be made to give each team its first choice. Team lists for each event will be sent out no later than November 6 for teams that pre-register. Teams registering after November 1 will be placed into events as space allows. Each Q-vent will be $100. Lunch will be sold onsite.

Once team lists are released, payment options are as follows:

P.O. may be faxed (804-745-2493) or mailed (4422 Dianawood Drive, Richmond, Va 23236).
Check (made out to VirginiaFIRST) may be mailed (See above).
PayPal payments can be made from a bank account or with a credit card.

Regional Championship

48 teams will earn their way to the Regional Championship and will be automatically registered unless we are notified prior to February 13. Payment for the Regional Championship is $300 and is due no later than February 13. On February 14, unpaid or unclaimed spots will be offered via lottery to the remaining teams.

Refund Policy: Refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
